Quote of the Day

“We often

don’t get to pick

the time and place

for our greatest battles.”

– Graham Garrison

I’m awaiting the arrival of  Graham Garrison’s novel Hero’s Tribute in my mailbox.  In the meantime, I used one of my favorite search tools and ‘googled’ his name; it was sad to read that after the publication of his book (in which his hero has cancer), his father was diagnosed with cancer.

Recently a very beloved uncle finished his long battle with cancer and my mother also died of cancer.

It is such an insidious disease.

I was grateful to be with my mother in the hospital during her last ten days (the nurses wheeled in a cot so I could stay by her bedside during this time).  Although she suffered horribly and it was painful to watch her endure this, I repeat: I was thankful we had this time together during her last days.  God be with her.  God be with Graham Garrison’s father.
