T. J. Bates – Memorial Service

Shortly after we moved to Seguin, T. J. was in failing health, so although my husband was acquainted with him, I did not know him.  However, I know his widow Roslyn and have heard a great deal about what a great man he was and how his life positively impacted the lives of others.

T. J’s  memorial service was a true tribute to a man of character who had a servant’s heart (with a wicked sense of humor) – and most definitely a Texas Aggie!  This was an Aggie Memorial Service in every sense of the word!

Friends told Aggie stories.  The church was crowded with ex-Aggies.   Even Reverend Jim Price told a couple of Aggie jokes.  What a celebration of T. J. Bates.

Of course, EVERYONE stood when Tres Hewell played the Texas Aggie War Hymn, the official fight song of Texas A&M.
