One lucky little girl has  a fantastic grandmother!  Seguin Police Department D.A.R.E. Officer Hope Vasquez is the proud grandmother of Julianna Edelyn Torres (“Jet”), whose father is serving our country in Afghanistan.

July 11, 2009 Seguin Gazette Enterprise article:

Seguin Police Officer Hope Vasquez — has been named D.A.R.E. International Officer of the Year.

The award will recognize Vasquez for her six years of effort in operating the D.A.R.E. program for more than 550 fifth graders in eight Seguin schools and for organizing community events on behalf of the city and its police department — as well as other “beyond the call of duty” work such as mentoring students and securing assistance for their families that includes food, clothing and even holiday gifts. The award will be presented in Orlando at the D.A.R.E. International convention, which is conducted July 20-24 and will be attended by D.A.R.E. officers from nearly 50 countries.
